Cocktail of the Week: Sloe Gin Rickey Henderson

07.20.09

It’s not necessary to refer to yourself in the third person when making this drink, nor is it necessary to stand naked in front of a full-length mirror for several minutes while repeating, in the third person of course, that you’re the best. But those things worked for Rickey Henderson, and Rickey Henderson is going into the Baseball Hall of Fame. Rickey Henderson was the best leadoff hitter ever, as Rickey Henderson will undoubtedly tell the world—or at least Rickey Henderson—on July 26.

Pour 2 oz sloe gin and juice of 1/2 lime into a highball glass over ice cubes. Fill with carbonated water and stir gently. Drop a wedge of lime in the glass.
