Gourmet has won a 2008 National Magazine Award, it was announced today by the American Society of Magazine Editors. The magazine won the award for Photography. This category recognizes excellence in magazine photography. It honors the effectiveness of photography, photojournalism and photo illustration in enhancing a magazine’s unique mission and personality. Ruth Reichl, Editor in Chief, Gourmet; Richard Ferretti, creative director; Erika Oliveira, art director; Amy Koblenzer, photo editor, for the September, October, and December 2007 issues.
This is the third National Magazine Award for Gourmet in its 67-year history, and marks Ruth Reichl’s ninth-year anniversary at the magazine. Gourmet won its first National Magazine Award in 2004 for General Excellence, and its second National Magazine Award, in 2005, for Photography.
